(More customer reviews)I LOVE SCOUT BAGS. Have five, including the Weekender. Is it supposed to replace my Swiss Army luggage for a cross-country plane trip? NO.
These are lightweight bags designed to make it easy to throw things in a bag for a weekend away or a day at the beach. For this, they are PERFECT. For everyday use, they are even better!!!
I have my gym stuff organized into the Rocket Pocket tote. Swim goggles, lap counter, swim towel, everything has a place and damp or not, it can't hurt my bag.
I use my 4 BOYS BAG to haul everything we need for a day at the pool or beach -- towels, pool toys, sunscreen, etc. At the end of the day, the wet things are all piled inside and no harm done. It even survived a week at summer camp with my 10-yr-old! Wiped it down and it was good as new. It holds in excess of 10 large beach towels so we always have plenty of dry towels and because it's so light, it's easy to haul. (Makes our annual pilgrimage to the beach much easier to pack for.)
I use my weekender for short overnight or weekend trips. It's lightweight and easy to squish into a fully packed car. For car trips I've even used it for kids travel blankets and pillows. Again, durable and easy to squeeze into spaces that regular luggage just can't go.
As for the thinness of the material -- I live in Hurricane Katrina country and this is the same tarp material that held up for months (and unfortunately in some cases, years) on people's wrecked roofs. Only it that case it was boring blue and these are all fun, fashionable prints. Again, it's not designed for being tossed around by luggage handlers at LAX, but it's just fine for most people's general use.
My 4 BOYS BAG is now 4 years old and has been treated pretty rough. It's still works great! Zippers have held up to tons of abuse and so has the bag! Cheap bags - like those from the chain stores or dollar stores never last. You get what you pay for and with Scout bags, that's a lot for the money.
For most moms, the Scout Weekender is the perfect size for her unmentionables and a change of clothes for a much-deserved weekened away. And you can toss it down without a care in the world...
